Professional Standards and the Code of Ethics
The 1913 Code of Ethics consisted of 23 articles categorized as “Duties to Clients” and “Duties to Other Brokers.” It obligated members (who wouldn’t be known as REALTORS® until 1916) to “be absolutely honest, truthful, faithful and efficient”.

Today, every new REALTOR® member is required to take at least 3 hours of Ethics training.  You may satisy this mandatory requirement by taking one of the quarterly classes offered at the Board, RSVP for next available class or by undertaking online training, click here.  Compliance with the Bylaws is mandatory in order to avoid a disruption in service.

Legislative Affairs
NAR advocates policy initiatives to create a sound and dynamic U.S. real estate market that fosters vibrant communities in which to live and work.

Since 1969 NAR PAC has been promoting the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. During the last federal election cycle alone, NAR PAC contributed over $12 million to pro-REALTOR® candidates to Congress, making it the number one trade association political action committee in the nation. MLS Service
NABOR maintains a multiple listing service for the use of its members which, subject to the Bylaws, requires subscribers (agents or assistants) to complete an MLS orientation program within 30 days of access being granted, or at the first scheduled Orientation,  whichever occurs first.  NABOR hosts quarterly MLS orientation sessions.  Attendance is mandatory in order to avoid a disruption in service. REALTORS® are ideally situated to improve housing opportunities where they live. They are the first stop for the prospective homebuyer or renter. Accordingly, REALTORS® can reach out – through personal involvement in their own communities – to those who need greater access to quality, affordable homeownership and rental opportunities. Closer to home, Santa Rosa County recognizes the need to provide residents with a variety of quality affordable housing choices.  The Housing Program’s primary purpose is to improve housing opportunities for the benefit of low and moderate income families.  The goal of the Housing Program is to create partnerships, maximize resources and identify new strategies to develop and preserve affordable housing.  Monthly meetings are held at the County offices on Caroline Street in Milton on the first Wednesday of the month.  More details, click here

REALTOR® Status 
Your REALTOR® status is considered provisional until your membership has been approved by the Board of Directors and you have completed the required training.  You will be asked to officially swear the oath to uphold the REALTOR® values and abide by the Code of Ethics.  For more information on Induction dates, click here.  You will then receive a REALTOR® lapel pin to wear with pride.

 
The Oath  
By joining the Navarre Area Board of Realtors, you are taking your place among the true professionals of the real estate industry.

As a member, you will become recognized as a business leader in your community. Your actions will be governed not only by the laws of the state, but also by the principles of honesty and fairness contained in the Realtor Code of Ethics. 

You will find many opportunities to use your talents within the organization, for the betterment of your business.  

You will be called upon for help in many ways…for community service programs; for programs of the Realtor Association at the local, state and national levels; for legislative action issues that guide our business.

When the call comes, it may be at an inconvenient time. It may be for something you have not done before. But when the call does come, answer with a willingness to participate. 

The Realtor Association is your Association.
